The 2011 Alabaster Gathering took place on Saturday 23 April 2011, based in the Guildhall, Hadleigh, Suffolk.

Programme

The morning began with the Annual General Meeting, followed by two illustrated talks:

• Nicholas Shaxton — Dr Tony Springall
• An Alabaster Treasure Hunt — John Stammers Alabaster

After a buffet lunch, attendees chose from afternoon activities: a guided tour of the Guildhall with Jan Byrne, a tour of St Mary’s Church with Hilary Griffin, or a visit to the Deanery Tower with Roger Kennell.

Evening dinner

Dinner was held at 7.00 for 7.30 pm in the Guildhall Dining Room (cost £26). The menu included smoked salmon pâté or tomato and basil soup; chicken, smoked bacon and asparagus Wellington or a caramelised red onion and goats’ cheese tart; and chocolate roulade or raspberry pavlova.

Sunday

On Easter Sunday, many members attended the morning service at St Mary’s Church, Hadleigh, followed by lunch at The George and a walking tour of the town.
